Notes to the Guide
This Guide is published with effect from 1st January 2009, in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act. The information listed is as comprehensive as possible. If any additional information is required, anyone is encouraged to ask and it will be provided if at all possible or the enquirer assisted in their quest as much as possible.

Charges
No charge is made for one copy of a document produced by this Council. If multiple copies should be required, there may be a charge at cost for copying and postage if this is required.

Who we are and what we do
This is the local Council for Long Whatton and Diseworth. The 7 members elected from the two villages meet usually on the first Thursday monthly at 7.30pm. Direct service to the villages include the provision of three play areas. Much of the Council's effort is concerned with safeguarding and promoting village facilities and services, referring local requirements to the relevant authorities. There is considerable involvement in the activities of the villages generally, examples include the Parish Plan published in 2008, the promotion of affordable housing, the Millennium Field, the Diseworth Heritage Centre and numerous topical activities. Many of these are highlighted in this and the Leicestershire Villages websites.

What we spend and how we spend it
All financial documents are open to inspection in accordance with Audit Regulations, including the Annual Return and Auditor's Report.
